Road Maintenance Association

The Ledford Downs Road Maintenance Association (LDRMA) is a 501(c)4 non-profit association established for the purpose of collecting funds for and overseeing the maintenance of the Ledford Downs neighborhood's private roads in Thomasville, NC.

Background

When the Ledford Downs neighborhood was developed in the late 1990s and early 2000s, the roads were made private instead of public, meaning the NCDOT is not responsible for maintenance.  Additionally, the roads were not built to DOT standards.  Unfortunately, this scenario is quite common in subdivision development, leaving the road maintenance to be overseen by an HOA or the homeowners, and making it nearly impossible to get the DOT to agree to take over maintenance.

After the latest attempt to form a Ledford Downs HOA fell short, a few neighbors decided to pursue the option of a voluntary road maintenance association.  In July 2020, we began accepting donations with a plan to pave our roads in phases as we collected enough funds to make significant progress.  Just 14 months later, in September 2021, we were able to pave our first Phase (1a).  With support from the neighborhood, we also took the necessary steps to make this an official 501(c)4 non-profit association with an elected Board of Directors and approved By-Laws.

Membership in the LDRMA is open to all homeowners and residents of Ledford Downs and requires a minimum $120 donation to the road fund annually. With Phase 1a complete, we are now fully engaged in Phase 1b efforts, and we strongly encourage contributions over and above the minimum in order to reach our goal as soon as possible.
